Hello! This is not a recipe newsletter, but there is a video at the end with a recipe. Does that make sense? Ok, cool. Anyway!
As I used to write (and probably will again at some point) about my dating life on the internet, I’m not really one for keeping secrets, and so without any further ado (I’ve always wanted to say that)… I’m going to write a cookbook!
Two weeks ago, I signed with Adriana Stimola at Stimola Literary Studio, which, I think, is very fun, cool, and exciting!!
I’ve been cooking longer than I’ve been writing, but I’ve been a ~professional writer~ longer than I’ve been a ~professional cook~ and this truly feels like all of my dreams coming true at one time. It is, in so many ways, everything I’ve ever wanted to do.
As a Virgo sun and Libra moon, I do think I have the blessed/cursed combination of having a very romantic head-in-the-clouds outlook on life and a devastatingly critical and realistic perspective on most things. Blessed! Cursed! What this means is that I cried a lot of happy tears when Adriana offered to represent me, and then was immediately like, oh my god, what now?????
Here’s the quick and dirty of “what now.” Adriana is going to help me perfect the idea for my cookbook and then help me create a proposal. What the book is about, what kind of food it will be, how it will ~feel~ (my favorite part, tbh), and once that’s in a VERY good place, Adriana will reach out to editors at publishing houses and try to sell my book. Once someone buys my book, THEN I’ll write my book. It’s a very long process, and it’s going to be a butt-load of work, but, like, I love to work, so let’s go, baby.
I will obviously keep you updated every step of the way, as I literally cannot keep my mouth shut, but in the meantime, I do have a favor to ask.
Selling this book is going to take WORK. Editors aren’t just going to be like, oh, Garrett seems great. Let’s publish the book! They look at followers and subscribers and blah blah blah. And while I work on that on my own, I’d love and appreciate your help.
If you’re here, you’re probably subscribed to this newsletter, but if you’re not, please do! It’s free! And more importantly, if you are subscribed, I’d love it if you’d consider sending this newsletter to a few friends and asking them to subscribe too. It really will make a huge, huge difference. And it’s really very easy. Just use this button!
I am all too regularly overcaffeinated, which means that sometimes the caffeine creates a shield through which normal emotional responses cannot penetrate, but, like, this very much has the potential to change my life. That feels like a crazy thing to type, but it’s true. Most of that falls on Adriana and me, and I’m so freaking excited to make it happen, but if you’re down to help out at all, I will blow you a million kisses through the screen.
Ok, earnest plea for help done! Enough of that! (For now.) As a treat for making it through all of that, here’s a video of me making the lemon ricotta dumplings! My sweet friend Jeremy directed and filmed and edited it, and my sweet friend Calvin made sure my hair looked good and that I was well-lit. I had a lot of fun making this, and hopefully, there will be more!!
Those are the updates! Make the dumplings, share the video, share the newsletter, have a great week!
Ok, love you bye!
Garrett
Congratulations! Very exciting 🎉
MAZEL TOV!!!!!! Garrett!! Reading this made me smile so much. So excited for the world to someday have both of your talents-your words and food-in one place in a physical BOOK! Sending you so much love and so happy for you!
